Castle Theatre Company presents Macbeth

13th & 14th July 2010
 The atmospheric ruins of Beaulieu Abbey Cloisters will provide an evocative backdrop for the annual visit of The Castle Theatre Company on the 13th and 14th July. This year they will be performing Shakespeare's 'Macbeth'; an intense thriller that follows a protagonists' breathless spiral through the dark and magical world of the Scottish Highlands.

Theatre Company (CTC) is the oldest theatre company in Durham. Set amidst the grounds of Durham's beautiful and ancient Castle, the company has produced theatre of the highest quality for over three decades.

The company has a rich history of outdoor Summer Shakespeare. Having toured for over thirty years around historic sites in the South of England (including Beaulieu Abbey, Mapperton Gardens and Glemham Hall), Castle Theatre Company are no strangers to creating high quality productions Castle Theatre of Shakespeare’s works.

Beaulieu's grounds will be open for picnickers from 6pm so bring along a rug or picnic chair and soak up the summer evening's atmosphere. The performance will commence at 7pm

Please note that as this is an evening event, the main attraction will be closed.  However, an added bonus for theatre-goers will be the display of impressive sculptures, both in the Cloisters and Abbey ruins and throughout the beautiful gardens and parkland grounds. The Surrey Sculpture Society Exhibition is resident at Beaulieu until 22nd August 2010 – click here to download a pdf of the trail.

* Please note that advance ticket sales will close on Monday 12th July at 2pm. Any ticket bought after midnight on Thursday 15th July will not be sent, and will be available for collection on arrival at the Beaulieu Abbey Cloister.
